“The five steps in teaching an employee new skills are preparation, explanation, showing, observation and supervision” – Bruce Barton
Employing an employee is not just about giving them a task to do. It’s about giving them a platform to develop on both a professional and personal level. However, public research demonstrates a limitation to this principle. The ORC International’s 2014 survey showed that only 37% of UK workers were encouraged to be innovative, down 10% from last year. Relationships between management and staff were seen as a hindrance to employee motivation. In March 2016, a survey conducted by the CIPD revealed that a third (31%) of UK employees are disappointed with their current career progression.
